Basic Camp for Teens • The Teen Scene! Our teen camp program, for girls entering 7th through 10th grades, is challenging, interesting and stimulating. Cooking and creative arts are just some of the choices girls may explore. Girls have the opportunity to create great relationships, share experiences and discover new adventures. Girls who register for The Teen Scene complete an application for general basic camp, but they will be placed in the appropriate teen unit.
Camp Program Aide (Grades 8-10)This two-week leadership program provides girls with the opportunity to develop or perfect camping skills with a day camp specialization. Girls who successfully complete both weeks are allowed to become their troop's outdoor-trained person. After completing the two week program, girls can then specialize in archery, boating or horse during a mentoring program July 26-30.
Guard Start (Grades 8-10)This two-week specialization focuses on the foundations of the American Red Cross “Life Guarding Tomorrow” program emphasizing prevention, fitness, response, leadership and professionalism. To successfully receive the American Red Cross certificate, girls must be able to swim 500 yards without stopping to rest or becoming tired and/or breathless. All girls will be awarded the Program Aide pin, program certificate and, with enough volunteer hours, their Program Aide patch. Volunteer hours may be applied to other community awards programs.
Camp Program Aide Specialization (Grades 8-10)This program is designed to develop skills necessary in working with staff and campers in the specialty areas of horse, boating and archery. Girls must first successfully complete the Camp Program Aide sessions in order to register for this program.
Girls who successfully complete Camp Program Aide or Guard Start may have an opportunity to share their skills by volunteering at day camp, at Girl Scout council-sponsored programs or in their communities.
