The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore’s day camps offer a unique, and highly regarded model for our summer horse sessions. We provide our campers with a progression-based program that allows girls to focus on expanding their knowledge and acquiring and growing their equestrian skills.
Bus transportation to and from the BNJ Ranch in Howell will be provided at no additional cost to you! Our morning horse sessions are for our younger girls, between Kindergarten and third grade. Our afternoon sessions are for our older girls, between fourth and eighth grade. When they are not at the barn, time and weather permitting, girls will be able to enjoy some of their favorite outdoor activities which may include swimming, boating, archery, arts and crafts, nature exploration, or some of our other fun activities!
Our campers are evaluated at the start of each week. They are placed into small groups, according to their abilities, and our professional staff will design each session so that every girl is taught at the appropriate level. Progress reports will be sent home via email at the start and end of each week, so that you may recognize your child for her progress along the way!
Girls will learn a myriad of skills, including exploring the anatomy and physiology of the horse, mounting, tacking, grooming, and of course, riding skills! Most importantly, the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore equestrian program teaches girls the principles of horsemanship; discipline, understanding, empathy, compassion, self-control, and dedication.
